Standard Terms of Business

This contract details the terms and conditions concerning our work together and is required by the National Council of Hypnotherapy.

1. The agreement to work on the issues presented by the client in no way guarantees a cure.
2. The cost of the session will be £120 per 90-minute session.  Sessions can be rearranged when more than 24 hours notice is given.  Rearranged sessions must take place within the following 60 days.
3. Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will cause the client to be liable for the full cost of the session.  (Prior to this policy, one third of all appointments were cancelled at the last minute, which would make this business unsustainable longterm.)
4. Contact between sessions will be limited to email or letter.
5. Antisocial behaviour will cause the immediate cessation of treatment.
6. Clients have access to the complaints and discipline procedures of the National Council for Hypnotherapy at any time. They can be contacted on: 0845 544 0788.
7. Confidentiality will be maintained in all but the most exceptional circumstances. These can only include: legal action (criminal or civil court cases where a court order is made demanding disclosure- includes coroners’ courts) and where there is good cause to believe that not to disclose would cause danger of serious harm to others. Most standards of confidentiality applied in professional contexts are based on the Common Law concept of confidentiality where the duty to keep confidence is measured against the concept of ‘greater good’. The sharing of anonymous case histories with supervisors and peer-support groups is not a breach of professional confidentiality. The sharing of open case histories with supervisors and any referring NHS medical practitioner is also not a breach.
8. Notes of the sessions will be kept and are available to the client with reasonable notice. Paper records are scanned and destroyed after sessions.  Session notes will be help on computer and cloud servers. All notes are anonymized and all devices use multiple level of protection and encryption.  Copies of privacy policy available here.
9. The client confirm that I have never been diagnosed with epilepsy, borderline personality disorder or schizophrenia.  If they have, these have been discussed with Simon Bates prior to booking.
10. Simon Bates, t/a Freedom Hypnosis, can email or contact me after the sessions finish for general updates and feedback.
11. Under most circumstances sessions can be done online or face to face and you are welcome to switch between the two at short notice.  Due to COVID notifications, it may be necessary to move some face to face sessions to online sessions.
12. In the very rare event that Simon Bates is injured or ill, sessions will be rescheduled or refunded at the client’s option.
