About Simon Bates Cognitive Hypnotherapist

MNCH(Acc) BSc Cog. Sci. MNLP

I first qualified as a hypnotist in 1995 when I trained with Paul McKenna, Richard Bandler and Michael Neill.  Since that time I have continued to hone my skills, most recently updating them at The Quest Institute, London.  The Quest Institute is the home of Cognitive Hypnotherapy, a modern, evidence-based, brief therapy encompassing a number of NLP shortcuts together with Word Weaving, a fast, highly targeted and bespoke form of hypnosis. This training led to my membership of the National Council of Hypnotherapists in 2013.

To ensure my clients get the service which best meets their needs I also have training Jørgen Rasmussen’s ‘Psychological Illusion Model’ of therapy which is brilliant for reducing anxiety.  I also use methods for reducing trauma including ‘Eye Movement’ work using IEMT (similar to and EMI and EMDR) together with EFT and metaphor work. These additional services often provide the fastest and most permanent turn-around for emotional conditions and are a great addition to a standard hypnosis session when called for.

Freedom Hypnosis

Freedom Hypnosis began in 2013, offering a general Cognitive Hypnotherapy service in London.

Since COVID19 many clients have preferred online sessions to face-to-face and I am happy to provide online sessions.  Having worked with international clients over the years, in most cases, online sessions are just as effective.  With COVID on the decline and most people returning to their usual practices, I am very happy to see you face to face in my home office in West Norwood, South London (SW16).  There has been very little interest from clients for my old Bloomsbury practice, so for the moment, this remains closed.  Currently about 70% of my clients prefer online sessions.

Here are a number testimonials provided by clients that were successfully treated for a number of different conditions.

At Exeter University I received a BSc Hons in Cognitive Science – a joint honours programme offering a Psychology and Computer Science degree with a focus on modelling brain processes. My interest was in computer assisted psychotherapy.
